The Top Eight Changes You Can Make To Boost Your Marketing Strategy

When it comes to creating a successful marketing strategy, you don’t always need to reinvent the wheel. Sometimes a few small changes can have a huge impact on your ROI.

To that end, a panel of Young Entrepreneur Council members shared their top eight tips to help business leaders quickly level up their marketing strategy. Below, they discuss what makes these simple strategies so effective.

1. Develop An Ideal Customer Profile

Develop detailed ideal customer profiles and segmentation—and then create the right messages and content to communicate with them. Most businesses, from startups to enterprises, try to narrow down their customer segmentation and create the right persona; however, during our research and analysis, we often find out the segments were not developed based on the goals and objectives of the business or the new product or service launch and are mostly too generic. Customer segmentation will allow businesses to make better use of their budget and increase the ROI. – Ali Payani, LookinLA

2. Build A Community

Instead of focusing on creating immediate sales with your content, lead your audience to join your community and learn skills from your blog posts and videos. I think that people online and on social media are unaffected by ads and promotional content by now. They just glaze over anything that looks remotely like an appeal to buy. But when you ask people to join a community, consume interesting information or grow in some way, they’re interested. Use your marketing to build your audience on Facebook, Twitter or on your website forums. Interact with people and keep giving them solid content. When people get value first, they’ll be more likely to invest in your brand and buy from you. – Blair Williams, MemberPress

3. Collect Consumer Feedback

Collecting consumer feedback can take your marketing strategy to the next level. Knowing what your customers want and actually hearing it from them puts you ahead of the game and tells you exactly what you need to do for your company to thrive. It’s important to appeal to your audience so your business succeeds. Regularly hearing their feedback keeps your business on track to perform well and gives the people what they want. – Jared Atchison, WPForms

4. Set Objectives Right Away

Having the experience of starting and owning multiple businesses, I’ve found that, in the long run, the best thing you can do to improve your marketing strategy is to set up your objectives from the get-go. You’ll get bonus points if you make them concise and measurable. For example, let’s say your company is launching a new social media platform. The ROI for all marketing can be measured with clicks and website visitors. So an objective for this campaign can be the number of visits to a landing page. Don’t expect results right away; remember it takes time for a brand to find the right way to speak to an audience. That’s where conducting periodic analyses of campaigns is just as important as setting up measurable goals. – Nic DeAngelo, Saint Investment Group

5. Track Your KPIs

Having proper attribution in place to track all your key performance indicators (KPIs) across the board can have a profound impact on your marketing strategy. It will help you know where to spend your money and where not to spend your money. Making shifts from the different platforms you are advertising on—like Google, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn or TV commercials—can make a huge impact on your marketing strategy. You should have proper attribution and KPIs along every step, down to the percent and the dollars. – Chad Keller, Motivated Leads

6. Produce Relevant, Value-Driven Content

To take your marketing strategy to the next level, make sure you’re only producing high-quality, relevant content. If your content fails to resonate with your audience or provide value, it’ll disappear. You need to continue showing your audience that you can provide value and solutions that help them in some way. Otherwise, they’ll go elsewhere. – Stephanie Wells, Formidable Forms

7. Focus On Education

Educate your influencers and customers. It is a must for you to constantly educate and inform everyone you work and partner with. These influencers and customers should know what they’re about to use. This simple gesture will help them understand and will result in a better experience—something they would most likely enjoy sharing with others as well. Give your customers and influencers a good experience and they will happily share their experience with others, like a domino effect. – Daisy Jing, Banish

8. Provide The Right Content At The Right Time

Many businesses know the importance of content marketing and they’re churning out multiple pieces of content every week—but they’ve lost sight of the point of such work. It’s to get real people to read them. Instead of creating a content calendar that’s filled with posts for an entire year, you need to think about who your customer is and what they need. Start looking at your buyer’s journey and provide them with content at every stage, from when they identify they have a problem to the point where you offer your product as an answer. Such personalization saves money and builds sales. It’s impactful to create even just one post a month as long as your audience reads it and it’s relevant to them. – Syed Balkhi, WPBeginner
